Q: What is SEMPO?
SEMPO is a global non-profit organization serving the Search Engine Marketing industry and marketing professionals engaged in it. Our purpose is to provide a foundation for industry growth through building stronger relationships, fostering awareness, providing education, promoting the industry, generating research, and creating a better understanding of Search and its role in marketing. Q: What is SEMPO Canada?
SEMPO Canada is a SEMPO Working Group, which is part of the SEMPO Global Committee, and was founded in November 2006 by Ken Jurina & Alexandre Brabant. It focuses on improving the growth, awareness and understanding Search Engine Marketing (SEM) including Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Link Building, Pay Per Click (PPC) Management best practices in this new field of marketing and how it uniquely pertains and is of relevance to Canadians worldwide across any sector, vertical or industry.

Q: What is the SEMPO Canada Mandate?
Develop and represent Search Marketing in Canada through local speaking engagements and online marketing events across the country. Since SEMPO Canada Working Group is composed of Canadian Leaders in Search Marketing, we aim to be recognized as the authority in Search Marketing in Canada

Q: Why would I join?
There are tons of benefits for joining SEMPO and SEMPO Canada. Please find a list of all the benefits on sempo.org, such as access to the Search Marketing Learning Center, Search Marketing Research and Surveys including networking with other leaders in the search community, recognition as an expert in the field and many more.

Q: How much does it cost to join?
There are 3 levels of memberships to join SEMPO. Individual member cost is $299 per year. Corporate General SEMPO membership is $1,000 and SEMPO Circle Member is $5,000.

SEMPO is the largest Search Marketing-specific nonprofit trade organization in the world, and we continue to add new members daily Worldwide.

Q: Who joins SEMPO:
Our membership is open to individuals and companies worldwide. Our membership is primarily SEM firms and consultants, inhouse marketing professionals, Web developers, and advertising agencies. We offer three levels of membership, and any member can join a committee. Our organization serves to promote the entire Search Marketing industry, so even non-members benefit from the increased awareness and industry growth driven by SEMPO initiatives.

Q: Who’s involved as Directors of SEMPO?
SEMPO was founded in 2002 by leaders in the Search Marketing community. Founders include Kevin Lee, Dana Todd, Gord Hotchkiss, Ken Jurina, Bill Hunt, Dave Williams and many others. We are the leading force behind the growth of Search Marketing worldwide.

Q: How can I get involve?

Q: Can you refer a Search Marketing business in Canada?
Unfortunately, our mandate is not to refer any specific Search Marketing business in Canada. Nevertheless, please feel free to consult the SEMPO Canada Directory and follow the link on each business or individual consultant.

Q: I need a RFP, who should I talk to?
Communicate with any company in the SEMPO Canada Directory to request a proposal. Soon, we will post Canadian RFP requests on this site.
